The Squire's Tale is about a knight that brings gifts to Cambyuskan the king of Tartary and the kings daughter Canace. The gift of the brass horse that could take anyone anywhere they would wish to go within 24 hours and the sword that could cut through any armor and heal any would by the flat edge of the blade was presented to the king. The gift of a mirror that showed your true and fake friends and a glass ring that would allow one to communicate with birds was presented to Canace. The king feasted with the knight and afterwards the knight was escorted to his room. The gifts were taken up to the rooms in a royal fashion and all bed a farewell goodnight. Canace had an amazing dream about the mirror and woke up early in the morning joyful and ready to go, so she went for a walk. On her walk she heard the sorrow cries of a lady falcon and with her ring asked the falcon if her cries were out of loss or love. The falcon tells her it's out of both and then continues with a story of a handsome falcon that fell in love with her and left because he had fallen in love with a kite. She helps the lady falcon with herbs she had gathered and the Squire says he will be back with the rest of this tale but leaves it as it is, unfinished.
